Srinagar, Jan 13, KNT: Kashmir received 79,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine today. The vaccine which is called ‘Covishield’ is manufactured by Serum Institute of India for Astra-Zeneca.
While divulging information about it, Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Samir Matoo told news agency Kashmir News Trust that 79,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine arrived in Valley today which will be administered to people in phase wise.
He said it is a continuous process and more such vaccines will arrive in Valley in coming days.
“In the first phase these vaccines will be administered to 60,000 Health workers. The drive for administering the vaccine will start at Srinagar on 16 January,” he said.
In response to a question, Dr Samir Matoo said that Covid affected patients will get this vaccine in phase 4.
“There will be no shortage of these vaccines in Kashmir Valley. These will be administered to people even in far flung areas like Gurez, Machil, Keran, Tangdhar, Tulail,” he said.
He said that Department of Health has already done ground work and mock drills in this regard.
These vaccines have been kept at central storage site. (KNT)

Srinagar, Jan 13,KNT January: Srinagar Police arrested two militant associates of proscribed outfit LeT. Based on a reliable information, Srinagar Police arrested two militant associates from Bulbul Bagh Barzulla namely:
Muzaffar Jan son of Gh Nabi Mir resident of Old Barzulla Srinagar,
Abass Shafi Najar son of Mohd Shafi Najar resident of Natipora Srinagar From their possession arms and ammunition viz two Chinese pistols, two magazines, 13 live pistol cartridges were recovered.
In this regard case FIR No. 06/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sadder. Investigation in the case is underway.
