Tral, June 26 : The encounter that had ensued at Tral yesterday has ended with the killing of all three militants. The gunbattle between militants and government forces in Chewa Ullar area of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district was halted for the night on Thursday evening.
CNS correspondent from Tral reported that all the three militant has been killed in an exchange of fire. The reports of injuries to two armed forces’ personnel were also received yesterday.
The identities are being ascertained and for the time being it has been confirmed that all three militants are local youth who had joined militancy and belong to Tral area.
Earlier an official has informed CNS that a joint team of Police, army’s 42 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
Data available with CNS suggests that this is the 12th encounter in South Kashmir region in the month of June in which so far 33 militants have been killed.
