  • Discussion over ‘New Education Policy and Kashmiri Language’ also held in the Conference

To mark the 40th annual conference of the oldest and largest literary and cultural amalgam of Jammu and Kashmir Adbee Markaz Kamraz, a grand event was today organized at Dak Bangalow Baramulla which marked the overwhelming and enthusiastic participation of a galaxy of academicians, educationists, poets, writers, civil society representatives among other prominent stakeholders of the society.

Conference was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of Islamic University of Science and Technology Awantipora Prof Mushtaq Ahmad Sidique where as event was presided over by the famous writer and intellectual Prof Mohammad Zamaan Azurdah. Noted Urdu Fiction Writer Washi Sayeed participated as the guest of honour while Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo hosted the conference.

On the occasion, a productive discussion titled ‘New Education Policy and Kashmiri Language’ was held wherein the speakers comprising of Writers, poets and intellectuals underlined the need for the development and promotion of Kashmiri language. The speakers vehemently and in one voice emphasized for the effective implementation of the new education policy in respect of Kashmiri language. Also a musharia was organized during which the poets read their poetic and literary works and enthralled the audience.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Prof Sidique stressed upon the teaching community to make their best efforts in teaching Kashmiri language in the educational institutions. He said no institution but only teacher can help Kashmiri language to transform it to new generation. He also presented a theme paper of the conference wherein various attractive measures and schemes guaranteed in the new education policy in respect of safeguard and promotion of regional/mother languages were highlighted.

Dr Itoo, in his address expressed contentment for organizing the event in district Baramulla and highlighted various initiatives taken by the administration for the promotion of Kashmiri language. He added that Kashmiri language is the core aspect of our cultural heritage and every effort should be taken to promote and preserve it. Moreover, DC complimented the participants in general and AMK functionaries in particular for organizing such an event.

Guest of honor Prof Zamaan Azurdaa, in his address presented a brief description of NEP and said that the new education policy gives due consideration to the promotion of regional languages. He also exhorted to promote the Kashmiri language at different levels besides signifying its importance in our rich composite culture.

Earlier Parton of AMK, Dr Aziz Hajini participated virtually and presented the keynote address wherein he focused on effective teaching of Kashmiri language at different levels in tune with the newly formulated new education policy. He also appealed all stakeholders and organizations working for the promotion and preservation of Kashmiri language, culture and ethos to join hands with AMK in follow up programme of the resolution adopted unanimously in the conference.

General Secretary AMK, Ab Khaliq Shams presented the inaugural address and gave a brief account of annual report cum performance of AMK at the event.

On the ocassion, special awards were given to some personalities. The ‘Sherfi Kamraz’award was given to the renowned literary figure, Fayaz Tilgami where as ‘Khilat Hanafi Sopori’ title was presented to Dr G N Itoo and Shabir Ahmad Shabir, a noted writer and poet.

A Kashmiri book titled “Neeli Nech Kath”authored by Syed Masood Shadaab was also released.
