Srinagar, Sep 21, KNT: A ‘helpless’ father Monday emerged in Srinagar’s Press Enclave and appealed Lieutenant Governor to deliver justice and nab the murderers who put his railway policeman to death 2 years ago.
Abdul Ahad Wagay son of Muhammad Sultan Wagay, a resident of Panzgam village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district narrated his ordeal to reporters stating he has been struggling from past 2 years to get justice and even went to Delhi for the same but of no avail.
Wagay told Kashmir News Trust that: “My son Aqib Wagay was an SPO vide belt number 231 in Railway Police. He was posted at Railway Station Malangpora that is also known as Railway Station Awantipora. One evening he got a call and when he went to meet him, around 7 persons assaulted him badly. They even snatched his cell phone.”
“After thrashing him ruthlessly, they fled away from the spot. My son somehow managed to call me and informed about the incident saying they pumped a bullet into his body as well.”
“From Pulwama hospital he was referred to Army Hospital Badami Bagh where he revealed everything to me and identified the assailants. After 3 days of struggle, my son died and since then I have been roaming from pillar to post seeking justice.”
Wagay said: “I told everything to police what my son had revealed to me on his death bed. Police arrested all the men, but released them after five days. I was in shock and went to Delhi for justice but got nothing.”
Wagay who has two sons in police department said that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is the only hope for him. “I seek the intervention of LG and hope he will direct authorities to investigate the case thoroughly and get the killers punished,” he said. (KNT)
