Srinagar, Oct 8: The Jammu and Awami National Conference Chief has said that by annulling Article 370 and 35A from the Constitution of India, the BJP government at the Center not only deprived the people of Jammu and Kashmir of their inalienable legal and Constitutional guarantees and rights by establishing a colonial system violating the basic fundamentals and human rights. The systematic and covert efforts to erase the identity of the people of the state by killing them day and night have not paid off. In the process, the BJP is questioning not only their own rule over the state but also the Constitution of India.
Begum Khalida Shah, President JKANC said in a press statement today that the present rulers of India have turned the state of Jammu and Kashmir into a colony. By imposing new laws regularly on the people of the state after their unconstitutional, undemocratic, illegal and illogical decision of 5th August 2019, they are trampling upon the people of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh politically, socially and mentally and are trying to push them towards economic misery and disaster. The latest example of this is the interference with the properties of J&K Awqaf-e-Islamia created by late Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah decades ago. It was brought into existence through the hard efforts and financial support of the people of the State which led to the creation and construction of numerous commercial and non-commercial buildings that supported thousands of families earning their livelihood by investing their personal capital with the Auqaf-e Islamia. This also resulted in the construction of shops and other structures throughout the State on the properties belonging to Auqaf-e-Islamia turning it into one of the most viable financially dependent institutions of the State. Now as part of the BJP’ s new Kashmir policy, the Central Waqf Board of India has started to directly interfere in the matters of the Auqaf-e-Islamia. Eviction notices are being issued to decades old tenants, which has caused great concern and resentment among thousands of business professionals, she said.

The ANC Chief said that the move of 5th August 2019 has already left the people in the state in dire financial straits and businesses have been shut down for a long time, creating more problems for them and depriving them of their livelihood with far-reaching consequences.

Under these grim conditions, these very serious, cruel and inhumane measures taken by the BJP government at the Center against the majority population in J&K are a blatant and open act of BJP’s Muslim hatred and added to this now is yet another anti-Muslim mission that has been launched to interfere and capture religious institutions and influence the important mosques and shrine administrators and make them to further the agenda of the BJP in the coming future. In order to carry out this heinous mission, one of its members has set foot in the state at the behest of the Central Waqf Board to gradually lay foundations to wrest control of the management of the Mosques and Shrines and the properties of the Auqaf-e- Islamia.

The ANC Chief has asked BJP to refrain from such dirty politics and illogical actions bound to fail in J&K State. The clerics and the administrators of these institutions have been asked to thwart all such cowardly and illegitimate measures taken by the BJP individually and collectively. “Do not interfere in the affairs of religious institutions and refrain from issuing such illegal, unconstitutional and dictatorial orders against the majority Community of the Jammu and Kashmir State, “she said.
