SRINAGAR, December 7: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Monday said that besides restoration of Statehood, comprehensive domicile laws for protection of land and jobs; the agenda of his Party revolves around holistic and equitable development of all the regions and sub-regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
Campaigning for Apni Party contesting candidates in the ongoing District Development Councils (DDC) polls, Bukhari addressed a public meeting at Chadoora in district Budgam.
He was accompanied by Party Vice President Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, Provincial President Mohammad Ashraf Mir, state secretary and district president Muntazir Mohi-ud-Din, media advisor Farooq Andrabi, Party leaders Ghulam Nabi Namthali, Mushtaq Zuhama, Javed Junaid and the Partyโ€™s contesting candidates of Chadoora.
Addressing the meeting, Bukhari said that the era of emotive politics is over and the people have realized that they have been exploited to the hilt by the political parties who have been in power in J&K since decades.
โ€œSeeing the results of indifferent and apathetic attitude of the political parties who ruled Jammu and Kashmir for decades and have failed to improve its developmental index; Apni Party pledges to implement its developmental plans in letter and spirit on the ground,โ€ he remarked.
Bukhari said that development in all the regions and sub regions of J&K, urban and rural areas alike, has become a big casualty due to self centric approach of political parties who are unfortunately again trying to hoodwink the public opinion by making false and misleading promises and indulging in emotive politics.
โ€œDDC elections are purely meant for holistic development of a district and canโ€™t be assumed as some kind resolution to any political issues. The people should exercise their franchise and make the successful candidates accountable for their developmental needs in their respective areas,โ€ Bukhari added.
Terming the Apni Party as a dependable political platform for the people of J&K, Bukhari said assuaging socio-economic and political aspirations of the people and undertaking development on a massive scale holds key to steer J&K to peace and prosperity.
Exhorting the people to participate in large numbers in the ongoing DDC elections, Bukhari said, a vote to the Apni Party will be a vote in support of development with dignity and honour for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on this occasion, Partyโ€™s vice president Zaffar Iqbal Manhas said that regional political parties have failed to deliver on their political promises made with the people whenever they came to power in J&K.
โ€œApni Party is a force to reckon with as we have delivered significantly on our commitments made without being in power. It was the Apni Party President who got the domicile law on jobs for J&K modified thereby ensuring protection of all categories of jobs for the youth of J&K,โ€ Manhas observed.
He said that similarly, the Apni Party has registered its protest on domicile law on land rights in the highest echelons of power in the country and will strive for a foolproof domicile law for protection of land rights in J&K.
โ€œThe regional political parties may have succeeded in getting some economic packages for J&K but they have always failed on the political front by disempowering the people of J&K from time to time. These parties surrendered the rights of people that were enshrined in the constitution in lieu of power,โ€ he added.
He said that Apni Party under the leadership of Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari is committed for an equitable development in Jammu and Kashmir and it would ensure that there is no discrimination done in this regard on regional basis.
Addressing the meeting, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, partyโ€™s provincial president said that Apni Party has not taken August 5, 2019 political decisions easily but the Party believes those decisions can be undone only either by the Parliament or Supreme Court of India.
โ€œThe difference between the Apni Party and other political parties is that they raise misleading slogans and want to befool the public. On the other hand, the Apni Party does not believe in emotive politics and promises whatever is deliverable within the limits of practicality,โ€ he added.
The meeting was also addressed by party state secretary and district president Budgam Muntazir Mohi-ud-Din, media advisor Farooq Andrabi, party leaders Ghulam Nabi Namthali, Mushtaq Zuhama, Javed Junaid and contesting candidates Fancy Akhter (block B.K Pora), Shabina Akhter (Chadoora), Shabnum Ahsan (Nagaam) and Ashraf Ali Bhat (Soibugh).
