Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization of children held across Kashmir

SRINAGAR, JANUARY 31: The campaign for intensive Pulse Polio Immunization was today held across all the districts of the Kashmir Division to administer Polio drops to the children in the age group of (0-5) years to protect them from the disease.

At Anantnag, Deputy Commissioner, Anshul Garg inaugurated Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) Programme, 2021 at Maternity & Childcare Hospital Anantnag. The DC started the campaign by administering oral anti polio vaccine drops to the new born infants in presence of CMO and Superintendent M & CCH Anantnag.

CMO Anantnag, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad on the occasion informed the DC that 146152 children will be administered pulse polio drops in the district. He added that 650 pulse polio booths have been setup in the district, besides, 14 transit booths have also been established for the effective and successful implementation of the programme.
The DC was further informed that Health Department Anantnag has deployed 2730 total workers which include 662 Anganwari workers, 53 education workers, 872 ASHA’S and 898 health workers, besides 130 supervisors have also been deployed for proper monitoring of the campaign.

The DC directed the officers of the health department to ensure cent percent coverage of the immunization programme and also asked for door to door survey to leave no child uncovered under the pulse polio programme 2021.

At Budgam, District Development Commissioner, Budgam Shabaz Ahmed Mirza today inaugurated pulse polio programme at Chief Medical Office by providing Polio drops to Zero age children.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Medical Officer, Budgam Dr. Tajamuul Hussain said that 107761 children will be administered Pulse Polio drops in District Budgam.

He informed that 2488 staff members including Health Workers, 653 ASHA workers, 637 ICDS workers besides 124 voluntaries have been deployed at 622 Booths.

He added that 57 booths have been established in hard to reach areas.

At Baramulla, Acting Deputy Commissioner/Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Aijaz Abdullah Saraaf today kick-started the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) campaign by giving oral polio drops to a newly born baby at GMC Baramulla.

Chief Medical Officer Baramulla, Medical Superintendent Associated Hospital, Deputy CMO, various concerned officers among other stakeholders were presenton the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, ADDC emphasized for mobilizing adequate resources and close coordination for the success of the campaign. He said that timely availability of vaccine should be ensured particularly in remote and high risk areas of the district.

On the occasion it was informed that about 1.64 lakh children falling in the age group of 0-5 years shall be immunized at 790 booths and 11 transit points established in the district.

About 3150 health workers have been deployed for the successfull conduct of the Immunization drive. Moreover, one mobile team has also been facilitated for the purpose.

ADDC also emphasized the importance of ensuring a mass media campaign and door to door visit to cover all the children under the programme.

At Bandipora, Deputy Commissioner, Dr Owais Ahmad inaugurated the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) Programme by administering polio drops to a child at District Hospital Bandipora.

CMO, Dr Bashir Ahmad, Dy CMO, Dr Parveiza, Medical Superintendent and staff members of DH were present on the occasion.

It was informed that about 62000 children upto 5 years of age were administered Vaccine at 349 IPPI centres established in the district including in snow bound Gurez Valley.

Besides, mobile transit teams along with supervisory staff, teachers and Anganwadi Workers were engaged for proper execution and monitoring of the immunization process.

At GANDERBAL, The Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today launched the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) Programme at District Hospital Ganderbal in presence of Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal, DHO, Medical Superintendent DH and other concerned officers.

Under the programme 48013 children in the age group of 0-5 years will be administered vaccines at 232 booths vaccinations in the district to immunize them against the disease.

For the smooth conduct of program, 956 workers have been deployed including supervisors, health workers, ASHA Workers, Anganwari workers besides volunteer workers to ensure no child is left out of the vaccination programme.

At Pulwama, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Altaf Ahmad today launched IPPI campaign at CMO office where he administered polio drops to the children in presence of CMO and other district officers.

Speaking on the occasion, ADC instructed the concerned authorities to ensure vaccination of each and every child under 05 years of age and ensure no child is left uncovered under this programme.

During the Pulse Polio programme about 92836 children will be provided oral Polio drops at 471 Polio booths in the district.

Pertinently, 93 Supervisors, 1884 Health worker which include Anganwari Workers, Voluntary workers, ASHA workers besides eight mobile teams have been engaged to make the programme successful.

At KUPWARA, District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Imam Din today Inaugurated Pulse Polio Immunization programme at Sub District Hospital Kupwara during which he administered polio drops to an infant.

On the occasion, the DDC was informed that 130677 children will be immunized at 738 PPI centres set up across the district. Besides, 2952 employees have been deployed to implement the programme including 1289 staff members from health department, 954 Asha workers, 675 ICDS workers. It was also informed that 74 NGOs are taking part in the programme.

On the occasion, the DDC directed the concerned officers to ensure smooth conduction of program throughout the district.

CMO, DHO, Doctors and Paramedics were present at the launch of programme.

At KULGAM, Deputy Commissioner kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat today launched the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization programme in the district by administering polio drops to several children at District Hospital Kulgam.

Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Kulgam, Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad Zargar, CHO, Dr Sameena Gull and other staff from Health Department was present on the occasion.

In district Kulgam 87290 children will be vaccinated at 508 booths established in five medical blocks by the health, Anganwadi and Asha Workers.

Also 12 transit points have been established for smooth and hassle free vaccination in the district.

At Shopian, Deputy Commissioner, Shrikant Suse kick started Immunization drive by giving polio drops to children at Public Health Centre Tukroo, Shopian.

Among others, Chief Medical Officer, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Block Medical Officer, District Immunization Officer and others were present on the occasion.

On the occasion, he was informed that as many as 233 Pulse Polio booths have been established besides 03 transit teams and 01 mobile team have been set up to vaccinate 39414 children.

It was informed that 948 health workers including Anganwari and ASHA workers have been deployed for the job.
