Tral, June 11, CNS: A family in Dadsara Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district escaped unhurt after a mighty Chinar tree came down crashing on the root top of their house.
Family head Ghulam Qadir Mir told news agency that they had a narrow escape. “The tree fell abruptly with a deafening noise. We were terrified,” he said.
The house suffered damage to the crash. The area witnessed strong windstorm during intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
Family members claimed that they had repeatedly requested authorities to chop off the branches of the tree fearing they might cause any untoward incident during windy conditions.
Tehsildar Tral, Ghulam Rasool immediately rushed to spot to assess the damage. He assured monetary help to the house owner.
Meanwhile, locals demanded that hollow trees especially Chinar should be chopped off without any delay. (CNS)
