Anantnag, June 12, CNS: At least threetroopers were killed in a deadly militant attack here in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Reports said that militants attacked a police and a CRPF party near a private school.
Reports added that the militants attacked the police and the CRPF on Khanabal-Pahalgam road.
They said during the indiscriminate firing, at least three CRPF personnel were killed while a police officer sustained critical injuries after he suffered bullet wounds in his chest.
A little girl whom sources identified as Snowbar Jan also suffered minor injuries.
The attack according to sources was carried out near a private school when militants resorted to indiscriminate firing on the patrol party. The exchange of fire created panic in the busy market. Witnesses told news agency CNS that people rushed to safer places while shopkeepers downed their shutters.
An official said that troopers killed in the attack were affiliated with 116 Battalion.
Forces cordoned off the area even as the exchange of fire was in progress. A number of videos of the incident went viral showing people rushing to safer places.
