Srinagar A complete shutdown is being observed across Kashmir on Monday on the Third anniversary of Burhan Wani, the commander of Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit who was killed by government forces three-years ago in an encounter in south Kashmir.

Authorities have put severe restrictions in sensitive areas of summer capital Srinagar, south Kashmir and other parts of the valley.
All the business establishments and shops remain closed in view of the call given by JRL leadership on Wani’s Third death anniversary.
Authorities clamped curfew in the home town of Wani. The authorities imposed massive restrictions on the movement of people in the rest of the valley on the Third death anniversary of Wani.
The graveyard of Wani and his residence at Shariefabad has been sealed by forces.
On 8 July 2016 Burhan Wani along with his two associates were killed in a brief encounter with forces in Bamdoora Kokernag area of south Kashmir.
Soon after his death Kashmir erupted with protests and strikes for six months. During six months of protests around 100 civilians were killed while 10,000 got injured.
