Budgam/Ganderbal: 19 July CNS: Police in its recent action targeting drug dealings in valley has arrested three drug peddlers from two different places, and seized psychotropic substance from their possession. Two persons were detained in Budgam, while one was apprehended in Ganderbal district.
Two persons identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Bhat son of Ali Mohd Bhat resident of Galibabad HMT and Mohd Issa Shera son of Mohd Akbar Shera resident of Hanjiwera Pattan were arrested for drug supply offences and shifted to Police Station Magam, where they remain in custody.
According to reports received by CNS, officers at the checkpoint established at Kawoosa Khalisa, in Budgam district, on Srinagar-Gulmarg road, intercepted a Maruti Swift car, bearing registration number DL9CAM-7341 and seized 4024 tablets of banned drugs from their possession. The duo was arrested and vehicle they were using was also seized.
An FIR under No. 103/2019 with relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Magam and investigation taken up.
In the meanwhile, during the continued drive against the drug menace, initiated by SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal, one person Muhammed Ibrahim Bhat S/O: Muhammad Ramzan Bhat R/O: Waripora Safapora intercepted by police party, which had laid a Naka at Waripora Safapora and recovered 19 bottles of codeine from his possession.
The said Naka party, under the supervision of Dy. SP Ganderbal Mohd Shafi and headed by SHO Safapora Masir Asgar apprehended him red handed, carrying 19 bottles of Codeine from his possession, which were seized and accused detained.
Subsequently an F.I.R under No. 11/2019 U/S 8/22 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Safapora and investigation taken up.
Police has requested community members to come forward with help, if they have any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighborhood and warned that persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.” ,said the police authorities.
