Srinagar, Aug 1, KNT: Police detained couple of shopkeepers for a brief time after they tried to halt the construction work at a shopping complex outside Srinagar Airport.
The shopkeepers according to reports don’t want to see the new shopping complex in the area.
Shopkeepers who staged a protest yesterday had alleged that the new shopping complex will shrink the parking space, an accusation vehemently refuted by the land owner.
“It’s my legal land that was lying vacant. When I decided to construct a shopping complex here, they objected which is not fair. As per the permission norms we have left space for the parking and then additional space for parking was offered to these shopkeepers on humanitarian ground. The height of the arrogance is that despite their plea rejected by the court, Srinagar Municipal Corporation and other concerned department, they tried to halt the construction process and are staging protest against us,” said the land owner.
“We have every legal document with us and even a permission from concern department. Even, court has awarded verdict in our favour,” he said and appealed shopkeepers not to malign their image. (KNT)
