Srinagar, Aug 3, KNT: The recent security advisory from State of Jammu and Kashmir asking tourists and Amarnath pilgrims to curtail their stay in Kashmir Valley has virtually crippled tourism sector here.
Social media sites according to Kashmir News Trust was flooded with news reports that a couple of foreign countries including UK and Germany have issued advisory to its nationals asking them not to visit Kashmir.
Tech savvy Omar Abdullah while expressing concern over such travel advisories said that it takes years together to get these advisories diluted.
“It takes years of effort to have these travel advisories diluted & the last few days have been a major setback for the tourism industry in the state,” Omar tweeted.
In yet another tweet, Omar said that he was a witness to 3 foreign tourists who had boarded his flight to Srinagar change their mind about the trip after seeing the government order. They walked up to the crew and demanded to have their bags offloaded.
Government on Friday had issued an advisory that read: “Keeping in view the latest intelligence inputs of terror threats with specific targeting of the Amarnath Yatra and given the prevailing security situation in Kashmir Valley, in the interest of safety and security of the tourists and Amarnath Yatris, its advised that they may curtail their stay in the Valley immediately and take necessary measures to return as soon as possible.” (KNT)
