Srinagar: At a time when lockdown is being implemented in spirit across Kashmir in the wake of fast spreading Covid-19, lone maternity hospital in Srinagar Lal Ded is facing extra burden as all delivery cases from districts are being handled in this hospital only.
“With no deliveries in other OPDs and private clinics in Kashmir, the entire brunt is on our hospital. We are striving hard to manage as we can’t refuse any case”, Medical Superintendent of Lal Ded hospital, Dr. Shabir Siddiqi told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO)
Even amidst such heavy rush the hospital authorities are making sure that patients don’t have to face inconvenience. “Our doctors are managing the rush by working 24/7 with everyone doing their part and more”, added Dr Siddiqi.
The new born babies and pregnant ladies are at the risk of getting infected with coronavirus putting patients and doctors on high risk. “In order to protect the mother and newborn baby from CoVID-19, our hospital is strictly following the ICMR guidelines”, said Dr. Shabir.
As social distancing has emerged as one of the major precautionary practice for curbing the spread of deadly virus, hospital administration is putting efforts for maintaining proper distance inside the hospital.
Commenting on the matter of social distancing at hospital, the MS Lal Ded Siddiqi said, “we are trying our best, we are constantly counselling the attendants by making announcements after regular intervals”. He further said that people themselves have to understand how important social distancing is. He also said that it is a loud and clear message for everyone.
