April is Autism awareness month and Save the Destitute Foundation in collaboration with Directorate of school education kashmir and HI 5 CDC Mumbai organised a one day workshop conference for parents ,professionals and various school teachers . This workshop is supported and sponsored by Saifco cements , Help together foundation, AL Hayat welfare society , KHARA, , Fat panda , ZARA industries and Physio Flex.
The main aim of this workshop is create awareness related to inclusive education and Autism disability so that everyone understand Inclusive education and support for children with special need in mainstream schools . The chief Guest of this workshop is Principal Khoti Bagh secondary school Romana Qazi and other guest Dy Director school.education Dr Suhail Mir President physiotheray associaltion were also present in this conference.
Guest speakers included many renowned professionals Dr Mudassir Hassan Assistant Professor clinical psychology GMC Baramulla , Dr Anshu Pandey occupational therapist from delhi , Dr Kounsar Mir speech therapist , Poonam Dinshaw social worker from delhi and Mr Aditya Tiwari from Pune a social activist and software engineer a single parent in India who adopted special child down syndrome.
The workshop was attended by healthcare professionals, academicians , parents from all over Jammu and Kashmir and different schools teachers participated Green valley , Dps srinagar, Spring filed , Islamic Global , Vitasta, Mehboob institute etc. Participants were awarded with Participation certificates by the NGO.
STDF has several times in the past years attempted to highlight the lack of availability of special education in all main schools in different parts of Kashmir valley and last year organization conducted 2 workshop related to disability and early intervention and special education The organizers, Mr Zaheer Abbas Jan Pedratic occupational therapist and founder chairman of STDF, Aabida Ali speech therapist , Dr Saima Rasool physio, Ayash Ali Masoodi , Nadiya Rashid speech therapist Tasleema feel the society and mainstream schools have a bigger part to play in order to accommodate every special need child in the society by providing equal opportunities.
STDF aim to hold more of such workshops to enable schools and professionals to adopt policies, hire professionals and develop infrastructure aimed at making special needs children part of the mainstream schooling under inclusive education.
