Udhampur: In furthering efforts towards strengthening the bond between the Army and Awam and to generate awareness about road safety and traffic regulations amongst the youth, the Indian Army organised a lecture on ‘Road Safety and Traffic Awareness’ at Government Middle School, Hubi. The event witnessed healthy participation of students during the said event. The aim of the lecture was to urge youth to follow traffic rules and minimize road traffic accidents.
The lecture encouraged youth to pledge to drive safely by following simple driving etiquettes and traffic rules more sincerely. In addition to the lecture, information handouts on road safety etiquettes were also distributed, emphasizing the dangers of traffic safety violations and preventive measures to avoid them. The Road Safety Awareness lecture encompassed Do’s and Don’ts while driving, issues of overloading, driving while speaking over phones, drunken driving, rash driving, driving without helmet and not following Traffic rules.
The interaction evoked a positive response which is likely to percolate down to all. It was heartening to see enormous zeal, enthusiasm and interest amongst the youth who requested for more such events in future.
