BANDIPORA, JUNE 04: The authorities on Thursday declared Two Municipal Wards in Bandipora town as “red-zones” and their surrounding localities as “buffer zones” after more persons tested positive to COVID-19 infection.

Deputy Magistrate Bandipora, Ravinder Kumar issued the orders declaring Ward No 05 and Ward No 06 of Bandipora town as Red Zone while adjoining villages including Kaloosa, Ajar, Watpora, Patushay, Onagam, Panzigam, Watrina, Nusoo, Sonerwani, Papchan, Madar and Lankreshipora were declared as Buffer zones.

The said order was issued in view of more positive cases reported from Neberpora in Bandipora town. “It has become imperative to initiate restrictive measures under section 144 CrPC for immediate prevention of danger to human life, health and safety,” reads the order issued by District Magistrate Bandipora.

According to the directions passed by the District Magistrate who is also the Chairman District Disaster Management Authority, there shall be no movement of any individual for any reason whatsoever permitted into and out of these villages and there shall be no vehicular movement in the interior roads of Ahemsharief village “However for any medical emergency, individuals can contact on 24*7 Control Room on 01957-225024 or 01957-225323,” order reads.

Zahoor Ahmad Shah, Lecturer HSS Arin (6005434752) has been deputed as Duty Magistrate for the Red Zone while Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Bandipora shall be the administrator of these areas who shall ensure implementation of the order in the containment zone and shall ensure availability of the basic facilities.

The DM Bandipora also directed the law enforcing agencies to implement the prohibitory orders in letter and spirit to save human lives. He warned of strict action against the violators of the order under section 188 IPC and other relevant provisions of Epidemic Disease Act 1897 and the Disaster Management Act 2005.

The District Magistrate also directed the Chief Medical Officer to get the process of contact tracing done as per norms and 100 percent screening of the 300 meters perimeter. “The sampling of contacts and their quarantine shall be ensured as per SOP,” he directed.

The DM appealed the general public to cooperate with the administration and ensure strict adherence to the order as the non compliance shall constitute criminal offence and attract strict actions.

He said that the district administration has put in place a mechanism to ensure uninterrupted supplies and deliveries of essential services to the general public of the district. He said essential commodities will be home-delivered to residents as part of this mechanism.
