Shopian, June 27, KNT: Two Forest employees were injured, one of them critically after they were attacked by Jungle smugglers with sharp weapon in South Kashmirโs Shopian district.
Sources told news agency KNT that field staff of Chowan Forest Block of Romshi Range in Shopian district was attacked by jungle smugglers when they were on a routine patrol during late hours in Compartment number 11.
Two employees were injured one of them seriously.
While giving information about the incident, Divisional Forest Officer Shopian, Sheikh Muhammad Ayoub said that the jungle smugglers were five in number. โWhen our employees tried to intercept them, they attacked with sharp weapons. One of our employees Ghulam Muhammad Tedwa received 8 stitches in his leg,โ he said adding that the tools and timber left behind by smugglers were seized.
The DFO said a police case has been registered at police station Keller in this regard.
